125 MW Pleasant Valley Solar 2 Set to Power Up in Idaho in 2026
Pleasant Valley Solar 2, a 125 MW project in Idaho, is set to power up in 2026. It will supply electricity to Idaho Power and support Meta's data center near Boise, following the completion of the 200 MW Solar Valley 1 project. The region's land availability and nature support future solar expansion.
Sundt Renewables is overseeing the construction of Pleasant Valley Solar 2. The project was financed by rPlus Energies with approximately US$100 million in tax equity from Truist Bank. It is expected to commence commercial operations in the early summer of 2026 in Ada County.
The demand for reliable solar power is increasing in the northwestern United States, driven by high-tech manufacturing projects like those by Micron and Meta in Idaho. The Pleasant Valley Solar projects have benefited from the proximity of the city of Boise, with interconnection not posing an issue. Thornova Solar PV modules mounted on Nextracker single-axis trackers are being used in the current phase, with Ingeteam supplying the inverters. Land has been set aside and permitted for future battery-based storage at Pleasant Valley Solar.
Pleasant Valley Solar 2, with a capacity of 125 MW, is on track to begin operations in 2026. It will contribute to the region's electricity demand and support high-tech projects. The project's success paves the way for future large-scale solar projects in the area.
