New Chery Tiggo 4 Hybrid to Launch in August

Chery Australia & New Zealand has announced that it will be launching a hybrid version of the Tiggo 4 SUV in August. This new model will join the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8, which were recently introduced with Chery Super Hybrid systems.

Unlike the plug-in hybrids found in the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8, the Tiggo 4 hybrid is a full hybrid, with an electric motor capable of driving the wheels. The power and torque figures for the HEV Tiggo 4 have not been quoted by Chery yet.

The Tiggo 4 hybrid will be a hybrid SUV, powered by a 1.5-litre engine, a 150kW/310Nm electric motor, and a 1.83kWh battery. The hybrid model is expected to have a claimed fuel economy of 5.4l/100km, which is a significant improvement over the standard petrol version's fuel efficiency.

The standard Tiggo 4 petrol SUV, with a 1.5-litre engine that makes 108kW/210Nm, currently holds the title of the cheapest hybrid-SUV on sale in New Zealand. However, the Tiggo 4 hybrid will be more expensive, with prices starting at $32,990 for the same-name specifications and going up to $37,990.

The budget-priced Tiggo 4 petrol SUV will be launched in July, with prices starting at $24,990 for the Urban model and $29,990 for the Ultimate model. The NZ-specific 3P-WLTP figures for the Tiggo 4 hybrid are not yet available.

Lucas Harris, chief commercial officer of Chery Australia & New Zealand, has made a statement about the Tiggo 4 hybrid, positioning it as a step towards making advanced technology more accessible to New Zealanders. The hybrid SUV is expected to provide a more eco-friendly and cost-effective driving experience for consumers.

It is worth noting that the name of the Chery sales distributor in New Zealand authorized to announce the price of the Tiggo 4 Hybrid versions is not explicitly stated in the search results provided. Nonetheless, the launch of the Tiggo 4 hybrid marks an exciting development in the hybrid SUV market in New Zealand.
