Allianz Life Data Breach Exposes 2.8M Records, FBI Investigating
Allianz Life has confirmed a significant data breach, affecting nearly all of its 1.4 million customers. The breach, which exposed sensitive personal information, was reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and is currently under investigation. The company has begun notifying those affected and providing support.
The breach occurred on July 16, 2025, when a threat actor gained access to Allianz Life's third-party customer relationship management (CRM) system, Salesforce, using social engineering tactics. This exposed approximately 2.8 million records, including those of individual customers and business partners. The leaked data comprises sensitive personal details such as names, addresses, phone numbers, birth dates, and Tax IDs, as well as professional information like licenses, firm affiliations, product approvals, and marketing classifications.
Allianz Life has taken immediate action to contain and mitigate the incident. They have notified the FBI and Maine's Attorney General's Office. The investigation is ongoing, with the breach believed to be linked to the ShinyHunters group, which has previously targeted major organizations. ShinyHunters and other hacking crews have claimed responsibility for the attack and leaked the complete databases stolen from Allianz Life's Salesforce instances.
