Apple Boosts Siri's AI Capabilities with OpenAI, Anthropic

Apple is stepping up its AI game, exploring advanced models from OpenAI and Anthropic to boost Siri's capabilities. This move comes as the tech giant aims to catch up with competitors in the AI race.

Apple's quest for superior AI involves testing models from both OpenAI and Anthropic, a startup founded by seven former OpenAI employees, including CEO Dario Amodei and his sister Daniela. The planned rollout of AI-enabled Siri has slipped from 2025 to 2026 or later due to technical hurdles.

Currently, Siri can tap into ChatGPT for complex queries, but Apple is now exploring more extensive third-party AI integrations. This shift comes as Apple seeks to close the gap with other tech companies that have made significant strides in AI advancements. To foster this growth, Apple is developing its own AI models for Siri under the codename 'LLM Siri'.

Apple's collaboration with OpenAI and Anthropic signals a push to enhance Siri's AI capabilities. The delay in the AI-enabled Siri rollout underscores the complexity of the task, but Apple's proprietary 'LLM Siri' project and third-party integrations hint at a more intelligent virtual assistant in the future.
