Aral to Transform Business Model with 1,000 Rewe To Go Stores by 2021
Aral, the German fuel and convenience store operator, is set to transform its business model with a major expansion of its Rewe To Go shop format. The company aims to introduce this innovative sales format at up to 1,000 of its own stations across Germany by 2021.
The initiative is part of Aral's strategy to improve its shop offer and increase revenue from this segment. Currently, shops contribute to around 60% of Aral's total revenue, with car washing at 19% and fuels and lubricants at 11%.
The first phase of this project has already begun, focusing on Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, and North Rhine-Westphalia. By the end of this year, up to 85 more stations are planned to adopt the Rewe To Go format. The initial installation has taken place at the Aral gas station on Eickener Straße, which has now reopened after reconstruction.
The new Aral gas station at Eickener Straße 357, operated by Claudia Wingerath, will offer a wide range of products including hot food, sandwiches, sushi, salads, desserts, fresh baked goods, and spreads. With this expansion, Aral aims to cater to the growing demand for convenient, on-the-go food options among its customers, while also boosting its overall revenue.
