Architect Jennifer Siegal

In the vibrant city of Los Angeles, the Country School, a pioneering green prefabricated school, was honoured as one of the five best buildings in 2007 by the LA Times. At the helm of the project was Jennifer Siegal, the founder and principal of the Los Angeles-based Office of Mobile Design (OMD).

Jennifer Siegal, a renowned architect, has made significant strides in the field of sustainable and portable architecture. She earned a master's degree from SCI-Arc in 1994 and was a 2003 Loeb Fellow at Harvard's Graduate School of Design. In 2005, a monograph on Siegal was published, and she was included in the Architectural League of New York's acclaimed "Emerging Voices" program the same year. Her impressive work culminated in her winning the 2016 arcVision Prize "Women and Architecture".

OMD specializes in the design and construction of ecologically sound, dynamic structures, utilizing portable and prefabricated architecture. The firm's innovative approach was recognised with the History Channel's 2006 "Infiniti Design Excellence Award" for Siegal's competition entry for the Los Angeles City of the Future 2106.

Siegal is not alone in her mission to redefine architecture. Many other architects and studios share her vision for a greener, more sustainable future. For instance, Zhou Wen Jun, associated with Zhou Wen Jun Design & 524 Studio(s), and Ibrahim Abdelhady, associated with Arch2O, are making waves in the industry.

Elisenda Franquet, associated with Kilograph, and Elisabete Saldanha, associated with es1arq, are also notable figures in the field. Mphethi Morojele, associated with the University of Guelph, Department of Landscape, and MMA Design Studio, a design studio, are also contributing significantly to the advancement of sustainable architecture.

Moreover, Binke Lenhardt, associated with Crossboundaries, and Cerno+Architekten, another design studio, are making strides in the industry. Chiara Aliotta, associated with Until Sunday, and Clement Blanchet, associated with LAVA Asia Pacific and Adjunct Professor at UTS, are also worth mentioning.

In the world of publishing, Siegal has made her mark as well. She is the editor of both "Mobile: the Art of Portable Architecture" (2002) and "More Mobile: Portable Architecture for Today" (2008). She was also the founder and series editor of "Materials Monthly" (2005-6), published by Princeton Architectural Press.

In conclusion, Jennifer Siegal and her associates are leading the charge in sustainable architecture, pushing the boundaries of traditional design and construction methods to create a greener, more sustainable future. Their work serves as an inspiration to architects and designers around the world.
