Avoid applying Vaseline on camera lenses. Instead, utilize the innovative filter that offers a dreamy diffusion effect with a sharp center. This magnetic collection boasts several unique options.
Maven Filters is set to launch its third wave of magnetic filters on Kickstarter, with a range of new additions aimed at enhancing photography, particularly in the realms of astrophotography and macro photography.
New Features and Filters
The Maven Filters Wave 3 introduces several new features, including the MAVEN Mini Ring Light, the MAVEN H-Alpha Filter, the MAVEN 6ND DARK CPL Filter, and a LPL and Diffusion combo filter.
The MAVEN Mini Ring Light is a magnetic, rechargeable ring light that mounts on the lens. It offers independent brightness and color temperature control for each hemisphere, providing customizable illumination around the lens and benefiting close-up and macro photography.
The MAVEN H-Alpha Filter, designed for astrophotography, helps reveal fine details in nebulae and other celestial objects by isolating the hydrogen-alpha wavelength, an important aspect for capturing deep-sky features.
The MAVEN 6ND DARK CPL Filter is ideal for landscape photography, providing long-exposure capabilities with a combination of neutral density and circular polarizing effects, ensuring sharp, controlled images with saturated skies and smooth water effects.
Astrophotography Focus
Two of the filters in the third installment of the Maven series are geared specifically for astrophotography: The Starwalker and the H-Alpha. The Starwalker filter makes stars appear larger and brighter by slightly blurring them, spreading the light across a larger area. An H-Alpha filter filters out most light except the very narrow bandwidth that gives nebula its red color.
Other Notable Additions
Maven is also launching a kaleidoscope filter that creates repeating patterns through optical trickery, a laser protector filter to safeguard cameras from damaging lasers during events like concerts, and macro diopter filters, which function as magnifying glasses for camera lenses.
The latest Maven Kickstarter includes an option for a Maven mini ring light with magnetic mounting system. Additionally, black and white filters adjust the monochrome tones in the final image and are coming in orange, red, and yellow variants. Maven's Dream Soft filter, a diffusion filter, keeps the center sharp but softens the edges, replicating a trend for using Vaseline on lenses.
Crowdfunding Details
Crowdfunding pledges for the new filters start at $69 for a single filter or ring light. The Kickstarter has already exceeded its stretch goals that include three more filters, with another set possible if the crowdfunding exceeds $250,000 (around £184,000 / AU$382,000).
With the launch of Maven Filters Wave 3, the filter series significantly advances its suitability for specialized photography types like astrophotography and macro photography by providing tailored lighting and spectral filtration solutions.
