Bentley Halts Bentayga Diesel Production in UK and Europe
Bentley has ceased production of the Bentayga Diesel in the UK and Europe. This luxury SUV, the first diesel from Bentley, was known for its impressive performance and fuel efficiency.
The Bentayga Diesel, powered by a 4.0-litre V8 engine sourced from Audi, offered an impressive 429bhp. This engine, featuring twin turbochargers and a 48V electric compressor, propelled the SUV from 0-62mph in just 4.8 seconds. Despite its power, it delivered an official economy of 35.8mpg.
The Bentayga Diesel outperformed its rivals, including Lexus' diesel RX models. It stood out with a black grille and '8' shaped tail pipes, and was sumptuously equipped with customization options. Bentley hoped this model would attract customers seeking better fuel efficiency in a luxury SUV.
The Bentayga Diesel's discontinuation leaves a gap in the market for a high-performance, fuel-efficient luxury SUV. While the Audi SQ7 shares the same engine, it may not offer the same level of luxury and customization as the Bentayga Diesel.
