Berlin Senate to Strengthen Drone Defense - Berlin Boosts Drone Defense with Advanced Systems
Berlin is bolstering its drone defense capabilities. The Senate's Interior Administration plans to acquire advanced detection and interception systems. Interior Senator Iris Spranger (SPD) supports this move, citing increased drone incidents nationwide.
The Senate aims to keep the German Armed Forces' involvement in drone defense within strict legal bounds. It plans to purchase detection devices, radar systems with a five-kilometer range, interception drones, reconnaissance drones, and kinetic defense systems, which will be sourced from Rheinmetall to shoot down drones. Spranger advocates for a central drone defense center at the federal level to coordinate these efforts.
Berlin's Senate is investing in drone defense technology to counter the rising number of drone incidents. It has chosen Rheinmetall for kinetic defense systems and seeks to establish a federal drone defense center. The acquisition aims to strengthen security while maintaining legal boundaries for the Armed Forces' involvement in the united states' war on drones.
