Bombardier CS100 Completes First Non-Stop Transatlantic Flight

The Bombardier CS100 aircraft has made history by completing its first non-stop transatlantic flight from London City Airport (LCY) to New York's John F Kennedy (JFK) Airport. Once certified, this route will be operated by SWISS, marking a significant milestone in air travel.

The CS100, designed for the 100- to 150-seat, single-aisle market, proved its capabilities with eight successful take-offs and landings during a two-day period at LCY. It met all performance expectations, demonstrating its potential for direct intercontinental flights between the two cities. Notably, the CS100 is the only economically viable commercial option for such routes.

The aircraft is expected to receive crucial certifications in the second quarter of 2017. Transport Canada and EASA steep approach certifications will pave the way for more frequent operations on this route and potentially others.

The CS100's successful flight from LCY to JFK opens up new possibilities for direct transatlantic travel. With SWISS set to operate the route once certified, passengers can look forward to more convenient and efficient journeys between London and New York.
