Bowling For Soup's New Single 'Holding on to That Hate' Driven by SSL Revival 4000
Bowling For Soup, the pop punk veterans, have recorded their first original single since 2022, 'Holding on to That Hate', with a distinctive sound thanks to Solid State Logic's new Revival 4000 Signature Channel Strip. The single was recorded and mixed by renowned producer Dan Malsch at his Soundmine Recording studio in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains.
Dan Malsch, known for his work with bands like Ghost, Gojira, and Avenged Sevenfold, led the project. He chose to use identical channel strips, including the SSL Revival 4000, to achieve a cohesive sound. The Revival 4000's Jensen transformer-balanced pre-amps provided ample headroom, allowing for harder driving without distortion or crackling. The E/G Series EQ and E Series dynamics section delivered the signature SSL '4K' sound, favoured by pop punk legends like Green Day and Blink-182.
Bowling For Soup's lead vocalist, Jaret Reddick, praised the bass sound achieved with the Revival 4000, describing it as 'glorious'. Malsch also found the B Series de-esser to be a 'secret weapon' for smoothing out aggressive frequencies in guitar recordings.
The new SSL Revival 4000 Signature Channel Strip has made its mark on Bowling For Soup's latest single, 'Holding on to That Hate'. With its robust pre-amps, versatile EQ, and effective dynamics section, the Revival 4000 has proven to be a valuable tool in achieving a cohesive and powerful sound. The single is now available, showcasing the SSL Revival 4000's capabilities in the hands of a seasoned producer like Dan Malsch.
