Camera Coordination in SynthEyes 2025.5: AI Merges with Traditional Motion Estimation

SynthEyes, a leading software for 3D tracking and compositing, has unveiled its latest update, version 2025.5. This new release brings several **new features and improvements** designed to streamline workflows and enhance the efficiency of matchmoving and lens distortion tasks.

One of the standout features is **AI-powered ML Motion Estimation**. This mode uses machine learning to perform auto-tracking on difficult or complex shots, generating dense, per-pixel motion vectors that improve tracker stability and reduce manual cleanup. This feature is particularly useful for footage that is blurry, flickery, or occluded[1][3][5].

Another significant addition is the **Flexible Lens Workflow Exports**. This feature allows for non-destructive, distortion-aware exports of lens distortion corrections. Users can undistort or redistort imagery at export time without baking changes into the footage or timeline, preserving the integrity of solves and enabling consistent, reliable results across different platforms. Artists have control over margin, resolution, and compatibility options in a unified export interface[1][3].

The update also introduces **Mesh-to-Tracker Parenting**. This feature allows users to attach and parent 3D geometry meshes to trackers directly within the viewport. This keeps meshes synchronized with camera solves and transformations throughout the shot, preserves export hierarchies for 3D and compositing applications, and allows pivot/offset adjustments without breaking the link[1][3].

In addition, SynthEyes 2025.5 now supports **3D Model Snapping to Moving Objects**. Users can snap 3D models onto tracked moving objects for enhanced visualization and review, making it easier to integrate and check 3D elements within a scene[2].

The update also brings direct support for very high-resolution RAW files, expanding compatibility with modern high-end cameras[3].

Other notable features include the **Parent Mesh to Tracker Option**, which reduces manual tasks and saves time for VFX artists[1][4]; the **Attach Objects Fast** feature, which allows easy connection of geometry to trackers; and the new **AI-driven tracking mode** inside auto-tracking for difficult shots[1][6].

SynthEyes 2025.5 is a free update for users on an active SynthEyes subscription or upgrade & support plan. Ben Brownlee, director of content, has highlighted the new features that help streamline your workflow and remove pesky elements from core matchmove tasks. The update is now available for download.
