Celebrating a Decade of KOTA with the Launch of KOTAverse
On the 10th of January, 2024, a groundbreaking project was unveiled by the design agency KOTA. The KOTAverse, a standalone microsite, is a highly interactive and visually stunning showcase of the agency's history and current status.
The KOTAverse is centred around a dynamic visual timeline, with events orbiting around a central blob, known as the KOTAverse orb. Users can click into the orb to 'Go Deeper,' transporting them inside for an immersive, in-depth exploration of KOTA's current identity and ethos.
Each element within the KOTAverse is represented by a Top Trump card-like format, with a 3D appearance courtesy of CSS 3D animations. The interactive cards were designed by the creative minds of Matt, Margo, Nicola, and James Piper, the Creative Director at KOTA.
Nicola suggested the name KOTAverse, which was officially adopted. The timeline was developed by Cyd, who has a website worth checking out at cydstumpel.nl. The timeline was built using Three.js, and Greensock's GSAP library was used for adding similar easings to the (dis)appearance of elements in the KOTAverse.
The KOTAverse features five content types: Our team, Our work, Our clients, Our process, and Our culture. Each content type is represented by a unique 3D shape, using the agency's brand colours, as proposed by Margo. Each event on the timeline can be clicked on, inviting users to delve deeper and explore more about each significant moment.
The KOTAverse also incorporates Lenis for virtual scrolling, ensuring a seamless user experience. After months of hard work, the KOTAverse is now live and ready for exploration. It is a testament to KOTA's commitment to innovation, creativity, and pushing the boundaries of web technology.
Experience the KOTAverse for yourself and discover the story behind one of the most dynamic design agencies today.
