Church of La Croix Upgrades Sanctuary with Professional Audio Equipment
In an effort to create a more engaging environment for its congregation, La Croix Church has introduced a state-of-the-art d&b audiotechnik Soundscape system to its facility. The installation, performed by Panavid, was a complex endeavour due to the church's existing acoustical treatment, HVAC, catwalk, projection, and lights that needed to be worked around.
The church's sanctuary was previously struggling with an aging sound system and poor acoustics. Panavid was tasked with finding a beefier, more modern system to fix the issues. The A-Series, known for its versatility, was deemed perfect for this installation due to the need to use the existing fly points in the previous speaker locations.
The front stage now uses A-Series loudspeakers that can fly horizontally and are lighter than the previous system. The consequences of the old sound system and poor acoustics included uneven sound coverage, poor speech intelligibility, and a lack of congregational participation during worship.
To address the acoustical challenges of the church's sanctuary, the Soundscape system was installed. The acoustic dryness of the Sanctuary was addressed via En-Space room emulation. The mix separation and depth of field provided by En-Scene, along with the overall improvement in clarity provided by the d&b audiotechnik loudspeakers, resulted in much better vocal intelligibility for the congregation.
ArrayCalc simulation software was indispensable for the installation of the Soundscape system. The A-Series were installed efficiently, with the three-cabinet center cluster hung from a single fly point, where the previous setup required three. A voice lift configuration was implemented to create a more engaging and participatory experience during worship.
