CII Sets '5 I's' Agenda for Eastern India's Growth in 2021-22
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has announced its theme for the 2021-22 fiscal year as 'Building India for a New World: Competitiveness, Growth, Sustainability, Technology'. Vijay Dewan, Managing Director of Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels Ltd and CII Eastern Region (ER) Chairman, will lead the focus on the '5 I's' - Image, Innovation, Infrastructure, Investment, and Inclusiveness - to boost Eastern India's development.
CII ER's strategy aims to integrate the growth potential of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal. Infrastructure development, including roads, ports, airports, and inland waterways, is a key priority. The region will also see a push for inclusiveness, improved production capacity, and increased returns for farmers in the agriculture sector. Additionally, plans are afoot to create a world-class EV infrastructure network.
Looking ahead, the second half of the year is expected to be robust as vaccination drives gain momentum. Despite the ongoing health crisis and economic challenges, India's economic momentum is not as severe as last year. The goal is to achieve double-digit growth for both the government and industry.
With a clear roadmap and focused initiatives, CII ER is poised to transform Eastern India into a favored destination for entrepreneurs. By fostering competitiveness, growth, sustainability, and technology, the region is set to make significant strides in the coming months.
