Citi's Single Event Processing Slashes Event Creation & Payment Times to Minutes
Citi Investor Services has rolled out Single Event Processing (SEP) technology in North America, significantly streamlining event creation time and payment processing. This marks a significant step in unifying Citi's global and direct custody infrastructure onto a single platform.
SEP has dramatically reduced event creation time from 12 to 36 hours to less than 45 minutes. It has also slashed payment processing time from 8 to 12 hours to under five minutes. This real-time processing empowers clients with immediate insights for better decision-making.
SEP's rollout began in North America in October 2025, following successful implementation in select European markets and with International Central Securities Depositories. By 2026, Citi plans to extend this technology to its entire global custody network. The technology facilitates tighter instruction deadlines, including same-day cut-offs, and improves access to funds by eliminating duplication and reconciliation.
Citi's Single Event Processing (SEP) technology is transforming global asset-servicing transactions. With reduced processing times and real-time insights, clients can expect enhanced efficiency and accuracy. The global rollout, set to complete by 2026, promises a unified platform for all Citi's custody services.
