Company in Sigmaringen District Loses Six-Figure Sum in Cryptocurrency Scam
A company in the Sigmaringen district has fallen victim to a sophisticated crypto scam. The firm was defrauded of a six-figure sum by unknown scammers posing as a Swiss investor. The Ravensburg Police Headquarters' Prevention Department is investigating the case, with Police Chief Commissioner Simon Göppert serving as the press contact.
The scammers, still unidentified, targeted the company with a convincing scheme. They promised to mediate a project worth millions and convinced the company to transfer cryptocurrency after personal meetings abroad. The Criminal Police warns that such highly professional crypto scams are on the rise, even targeting larger companies. Despite the setback, investigators from Friedrichshafen's Criminal Police and the Hechingen Public Prosecutor's Office managed to secure over $100,000 in cryptocurrency from a cryptocurrency exchange.
The Ravensburg Police Headquarters urges businesses to remain vigilant against such fraudulent schemes. The investigation into the Sigmaringen district case continues, with the perpetrators still at large. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police.
