Nexi Group Acquires Computop Paygate, Strengthening Presence in European Payment Market

Italian PayTech company Nexi Group has completed the full acquisition of German payment service provider Computop Paygate. The acquisition marks a significant expansion of Nexi Group's operations in Germany and is a strategic move to strengthen Nexi Group's position in the European payment market.

With full integration into Nexi Group, Computop Paygate can now leverage Nexi's extensive European infrastructure and reach to scale its offering into new markets. The combination of Nexi's European presence and Computop's omnichannel expertise aims to provide traders and service providers with an even broader, technologically leading payment offering.

Stephan Kück has taken over as CEO of Computop Paygate, succeeding Ralf Gladis after Nexi Group completed the full acquisition. Kück is joined by Thomas Egglseder and Kenneth M. Overgaard-Nielsen as part of the new management team.

Ralf Gladis, co-founder of Computop Paygate and its CEO for over 28 years, is stepping down from his role. He played a significant role in shaping Computop Paygate since its inception in 1997, evolving the company from a pioneer in online payments to an internationally established provider of omnichannel payments. Under Gladis' leadership, Computop Paygate offered a comprehensive omnichannel payment platform that integrates online, mobile, POS, and call-center payments, supporting over 350 payment methods. He also spearheaded the Leaders for Climate Action initiative, steering Computop onto a sustainable path, and adopted climate-neutral payment solutions. Moreover, Gladis served on the advisory board of the MINT center for promoting natural sciences and technology in the Bamberg region.

The Computop team praised Gladis' contributions, thanking him for his exceptional commitment and wishing him well for his new chapter in life. Thomas Spreitzer, CEO of Nexi DACH, is taking on a significant role in the new structure of the combined companies.

The acquisition of Computop Paygate by Nexi Group is expected to create synergies and drive growth for both companies. Computop Paygate will continue to operate as an independent company within the Nexi Group, leveraging the benefits of the larger organisation while maintaining its unique identity and expertise.
