Dr. Joerg Ochs Named Director of VI - Digital Division at General Customs Administration

Dr. Joerg Ochs has been named as the new director of the VI - Digital division at the General Customs Administration. The appointment, made by Ms. Marianne Kothe, aims to drive the digital transformation of the customs service. Dr. Ochs will also serve as the Chief Digital Customs Officer (CDCO).

Dr. Ochs brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He previously headed the corporate IT department at Munich Stadtwerke GmbH and held positions as head of IT security and telecommunications, and managing director. His expertise in digital systems and processes will be crucial in overseeing the division's 700 employees.

The Digital Division, established earlier this year, is tasked with continuously adapting specialist and supporting processes. Dr. Ochs' goal is to achieve a fully digitized and networked customs service through strategic IT projects and a comprehensive digitization action plan. He holds a doctorate in information technology from the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich, where he studied electrical engineering and communications engineering.

The appointment of Dr. Joerg Ochs as director of the VI - Digital division and CDCO was attended by the president of the General Customs Administration, Dr. Armin Rolfink, and other notable guests. With his extensive background in digital leadership and IT management, Dr. Ochs is well-positioned to accelerate and monitor the digital transformation of the customs service.
