E.ON Pioneers Electric Truck Charging Reservation System
E.ON is pioneering a reservation system for electric truck charging points, aiming to streamline operations and stabilize delivery schedules. The project, a collaboration with MAN Truck & Bus SE and Siemens Energy, is currently underway at the MAN Service Center in Karlsfeld near Munich.
The system allows dispatchers or drivers to book charging slots in advance via a web app, with a 15-minute tolerance on either side of the reserved time. This exclusive booking ensures the charging point is available during the reserved window, reducing downtime and stabilizing delivery windows.
The project targets fleets in the road freight sector, with more locations planned in the future. E.ON is collecting practical data with transport companies to refine the system, aiming to enable planned charging without waiting times and better coordination with legal rest periods.
