E.ON Trials Reservation System for Electric Truck Charging
E.ON is trialling a new reservation system for electric truck charging stations, aiming to streamline charging stop planning. The pilot, in collaboration with UnternehmerTUM and industrial partners, is currently underway at the MAN Service Center Karlsfeld near Munich.
The new system allows drivers to reserve charging points along their route before or during their journey. This innovation addresses the challenge of planning charging stops for electric cars, ensuring drivers don't have to wait for a free charging station.
Key features include the ability to adjust reservations at short notice if the route or arrival time changes. Additionally, the system enables drivers to charge during their legally required rest periods, optimizing driving schedules.
E.ON's reservation system pilot is set to collect practical experience and optimize processes. The first reservable charging stations are in use at the MAN Service Center Karlsfeld, with the goal of enhancing the efficiency of electric car charging nationwide.
