EDF Wins Approval for 52MW Solar Projects in French Territories
EDF, France's leading electricity provider, has secured approval for significant solar power projects in its overseas territories. These projects, totalling 52 megawatts, will generate and distribute 70 GWh of solar power annually, with installations in Corsica, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Réunion, and solar storage systems in all these territories.
Corsica will lead with 18 megawatts, followed by Guadeloupe with 9 megawatts, and Martinique with 11.1 megawatts. French Guiana will have 5.2 megawatts, while Réunion will have 8.5 megawatts. The projects include various installations such as PV rooftop systems, solar carport canopies, and open field installations, diversifying energy sources.
The projects will be remunerated at a rate of 204 euros per megawatt-hour, ensuring a sustainable return on investment. EDF, responsible for these projects, will install solar storage systems in all five territories, enhancing energy reliability and independence.
With these solar power projects, EDF aims to harness the territories' solar potential, reducing their reliance on imported fossil fuels. The projects are expected to generate substantial clean energy, contributing to France's and the territories' renewable energy targets.
