Lucid Air Sets New Guinness World Record for Longest Journey by an Electric Car on a Single Charge
The Lucid Air Grand Touring has broken the Guinness World Record for the longest journey by an electric car on a single charge. The record-breaking journey, which took place from St. Moritz, Switzerland to Munich, Germany, saw the Lucid Air travel an impressive 1,205 kilometers (749 miles) without the need for a single charging stop.
The previous record was held by the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+, which covered 1,045 kilometers (649 miles) on a single charge. The Mercedes EQS record was set earlier in June 2025 in Japan.
The Lucid Air's journey, which took place on July 5–6, 2025, was no easy feat. The car traversed diverse driving conditions, including alpine passes, highways, and country roads, demonstrating its real-world capability.
The Lucid Air Grand Touring offers a power output of 611 kW (831 PS) and a WLTP range of 960 km. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 270 km/h. The power consumption of the Grand Touring trim is 13.5 kWh/100 km.
At suitable fast-charging stations, the Grand Touring trim can add up to 400 km of range in just 16 minutes. This impressive charging speed, combined with the car's impressive range, makes the Lucid Air Grand Touring a formidable competitor in the electric vehicle market.
Eric Bach, Senior Vice President of Product and Chief Engineer at Lucid, stated that the record is proof of their technological advantage. "We are thrilled to have set a new Guinness World Record with the Lucid Air Grand Touring. This achievement highlights the power and efficiency of our EV technology and our commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in electric mobility."
Lucid is not just developing electric vehicles; they are setting new benchmarks. The Lucid Air's battery management system is the most advanced available, and its ultra-high voltage architecture is notable. The top version of the Air offers an astounding 920 kW (1251 PS), accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2 seconds and boasting a top speed of 330 km/h.
The Lucid Air is now available in Germany in three more variants, offering consumers a range of options to suit their needs. Whether you're looking for a high-performance electric vehicle with an impressive range or a more affordable option with a lower power output, Lucid has a model to suit your needs.
In conclusion, the Lucid Air Grand Touring has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest journey by an electric car on a single charge, outperforming the Mercedes EQS by a significant margin in both distance and recent accomplishment.
