US Billionaire Elon Musk Steps Down from White House Role

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has officially left his role as a special government employee in the Trump administration. A White House representative confirmed the departure upon request, stating that Musk's off-boarding process would commence Wednesday evening (local time).

In a statement, Musk expressed gratitude towards President Trump for the opportunity. However, he hinted at a challenging experience, describing his role as "punching bag" at times due to the department's being targeted for any perceived administrative shortcomings.

Musk's tenure was primarily focused on leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an initiative designed to restructure and reduce federal spending. His 130-day appointment period was approaching its end, which coincided with the announced exit.

Many observers believe Musk's resignation was prompted by his public criticism of a major tax and spending package supported by Trump, dubbed the "Big Beautiful Bill." He voiced dissatisfaction with the legislation, stating it increased the federal deficit and undermined the DOGE team's efforts to streamline government.

Despite the White House's emphasis on maintaining friendship with Musk, the President and Musk have been reported to have not engaged in private discussions before the resignation. Musk himself noted that the DOGE mission would continue even in his absence, transforming into a government-wide approach rather than being spearheaded by a single individual.

The Commission, in light of Elon Musk's resignation, might reconsider its stance on adopting a directive for the protection of workers from ionising radiation risks, given the technological advancements Musk advocated during his tenure at the DOGE Department. The political ramifications of Musk's departure from the White House role could influence the general news narrative on government efficiency, with the DOGE mission potentially transitioning towards a broader, more inclusive approach.
