In an exciting development for the aviation industry, regional airline EVIA AERO has entered into a groundbreaking cooperation with Australian pure technology start-up Stralis Aircraft. This joint venture, located in the European Union in Hungary, promises to revolutionise regional flights by making them more efficient and climate-friendly.

EVIA AERO, with its vision to transform regional aviation, has agreed to acquire six units of the Beech 1900D-HE, a hydrogen-electric aircraft from Stralis Aircraft. This aircraft, equipped with Stralis' proprietary hydrogen-electric propulsion system, produces no CO2 emissions, generating only water vapour.

Stralis' high-temperature PEM fuel cell technology enables significantly greater range than battery-electric solutions at lower costs. As a result, these hydrogen aircraft are set to enter service in regional flights from 2030, offering up to 50% lower operating costs compared to conventional aircraft.

The Beech 1900D-HE can carry up to 15 passengers with a range of 800 kilometers and cruises at 500 km/h at cruising altitude. Experiences from regional flight traffic are to be transferred to larger aircraft models and longer distances in the medium term.

EVIA AERO sees great potential for direct connections in regions like the Mediterranean, North and East coasts, or the Alps. These connections could better connect smaller towns without additional strain on the climate. The collaboration between Stralis and EVIA AERO sets a precedent for the entire aviation industry, taking a significant step towards decarbonized aviation.

In addition to this, an additional ten aircraft are optionally planned for EVIA AERO, further solidifying their commitment to sustainable aviation. The collaboration also aims to work on the necessary infrastructure to enable widespread use of hydrogen-electric aircraft in Europe. This includes transforming regional airports into energy hubs powered by locally generated green electricity.

Dominik Lelle, a member of the online editorial team at AERO INTERNATIONAL since 2023, expresses his enthusiasm for this collaboration. Outside the editorial office, Dominik Lelle is a passionate traveler, looking forward to discovering new horizons in his travel. He shares his passion for aviation, making the world of aviation tangible and exciting for readers.

This collaboration between EVIA AERO and Stralis Aircraft marks a significant milestone in the journey towards a sustainable aviation future. As we move forward, we can expect to see more innovative solutions like these that prioritise both efficiency and environmental responsibility.
