ENVE Launches Foundation AG25 Gravel Wheelset for Off-Road Adventures
ENVE Composites has launched its Foundation AG25 wheelset, designed for gravel and adventure cycling. Priced at £1,800 ($1,400) in the UK, these wheels offer a blend of responsiveness and durability, with a unique carbon lay-up and protective features.
The AG25 boasts a gravel-specific carbon rim, 21mm deep and 25mm wide, accommodating tyres from 36mm to 50mm. ENVE's hookless bead and Wide Hookless Bead flat protection help prevent pinch punctures at low pressures, ideal for off-road terrain.
Testers found the AG25 wheels direct and responsive, with quick acceleration. However, they noted less compliance than expected on rough trails. Despite this, the wheels performed well, requiring minimal truing and reporting no issues. ENVE's Foundation Innerdrive hubs, with 60t inboard steel ratchets, offer a 6° engagement angle, providing snappy acceleration.
The AG25 is built with 24 bladed Sapim CX Sprints J-bend spokes, weighing 639g for the front and 768g for the rear, totaling 1,407g. ENVE's Incidental Protection Programme offers discounts on replacement parts, ensuring long-term affordability.
The ENVE Foundation AG25 wheelset is a versatile option for gravel and adventure cycling, combining responsiveness with robust protection features. Priced at £1,800 ($1,400) in the UK, and around 2,500 to 3,000 euros in Germany or Austria, these wheels offer excellent value for money, backed by ENVE's protection programme.
