Etherscan Launches API v2 for Simplified Multi-Chain Development

Etherscan, the renowned blockchain explorer and data services platform, has launched the beta version of its API v2. This new tool simplifies multi-chain application development and enhances security, with no direct attribution to the specific creators in the available sources.

API v2 introduces a unified interface for over 50 EVM-compatible blockchains, allowing developers to use a single API key and the chainID parameter to specify their desired chain. This replaces the need for multiple keys and complex configurations, streamlining code and setup.

The new API offers backward compatibility with v1, ensuring a smooth transition and reducing the risk of failures in existing applications. It also provides a single access point for blockchain data, making it easier to create multi-chain applications.

Etherscan has updated its API keys to enhance security, acting as digital ID badges to confirm user access to data. Additionally, the API v2 enables developers to verify smart contracts and interact with Etherscan programmatically.

In June, Etherscan introduced the Code Reader tool, powered by AI, to analyze the source code of smart contracts. This tool complements the API v2, offering developers a comprehensive suite of tools for smart contract interaction and analysis.

Etherscan's API v2 beta launch simplifies multi-chain development, enhances security, and ensures backward compatibility. With a unified interface for over 50 EVM-compatible blockchains and a single API key system, developers can look forward to faster product launches and reduced maintenance costs. The API v2, combined with the Code Reader tool, provides a robust set of tools for smart contract interaction and analysis.
