Expanded broadband availability: Complimentary access granted

In a move to bridge the digital divide, the Neuwied district in Germany is pushing forward with the expansion of fiber-optic broadband connections. The district administration, under the leadership of Landrat Achim Hallerbach, is working closely with telecommunications companies to ensure that all citizens in the area can enjoy a connected future.

The Press Spokesperson for Kreisverwaltung Neuwied, Thomas Herschbach, can be reached at [email protected] or by phone at 02631/803-224. The official homepage of Kreisverwaltung Neuwied is www.kreis-neuwied.de.

The fiber-optic infrastructure will be built in an open-access manner, meaning it will be accessible to all telecommunications companies. To allow the construction of the fiber-optic line, a consent agreement must be signed with MUENET GmbH & Co. KG. However, households are not required to conclude an end-user contract with MUENET beyond the consent agreement.

Households have the option to inquire with other telecommunications companies about contract availability at their address. Landrat Hallerbach will send personal letters to citizens in Verbandsgemeinden Unkel, Linz am Rhein, Bad Hönningen, Asbach, and Dierdorf to keep them informed about this initiative.

The fiber-optic connection for all recipients in the expansion area will be provided free of charge. The consent agreement can be requested at [email protected].

It is important to note that the exact status of free fiber-optic connection up to the doorstep for citizens in the Verbandsgemeinden of Unkel, Linz am Rhein, Bad Hönningen, Asbach, and Dierdorf under the Grey Spots Funding Program may vary. For precise, up-to-date information about the current rollout status in these specific municipalities, official sources to consult include the district administration of Neuwied, the local Verbandsgemeinde offices, the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, and internet service providers contracted for the rollout in the region.

As the Neuwied district embarks on this digital transformation journey, it invites its citizens to stay informed and engaged in this exciting initiative that promises to bring the region into the future.
