A former IT worker for Gucci, Sam Chihlung Yin, has been indicted on 50 charges following a hacking incident that caused significant damage to the luxury fashion company. Yin, who used a fake account to access Gucci's virtual private network, has been accused of deleting virtual servers, taking down the company's email and document systems for a full day. The incident resulted in $200,000-worth of damage. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr. commented on the case, stating that computer hacking poses a serious threat to corporate security. Yin, who once worked for Gucci, now faces 50 charges including computer trespass, identity theft, and unauthorized use of a computer.
