GMC Expands Globally, Bringing Yukon SUV to China, Australia, and New Zealand
GMC is set to expand its reach globally, with plans to introduce the Yukon SUV to China in 2024, followed by Australia and New Zealand in 2025. This move comes as the brand aims to bolster its operations worldwide and follows a successful year in Canada, where the Yukon and Yukon XL were top-selling full-size SUVs in 2023.
GMC's global expansion strategy seeks to strengthen its presence in the U.S., Mexico, Canada, and the Middle East. The brand has seen significant growth in recent years, with retail sales in Canada jumping 10% in 2023 and overall sales increasing by 6.5%, marking its best performance since 2017. To maintain this momentum, GMC plans to keep its full-size truck and SUV lineup in production until 2035, even as it transitions to electric vehicles.
Under the umbrella of General Motors (GM), which manages Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC, the brand is poised for further growth. The Yukon SUV's introduction to new markets is expected to drive this expansion, with China, Australia, and New Zealand set to welcome the vehicle in the coming years.
GMC's global expansion and successful 2023 sales performance position the brand for continued growth. With the Yukon SUV set to enter new markets and the full-size truck and SUV lineup committed to production until 2035, GMC is well-equipped to navigate its transition to electric vehicles while maintaining its profitability.
