Google Resolves Crawler Issue Affecting Website Crawl Rates
Google has confirmed that it has resolved an issue affecting its crawlers, which led to a drop in crawl rate for some websites starting around August 8, 2025. The issue was first acknowledged by John Mueller, a Google Search Liaison, on Bluesky and LinkedIn.
Site owners and SEO specialists noticed a reduction in Googlebot's activity, causing uncertainty about the impact on ranking new and updated content. While the extent of the issue remains unclear, Mueller reassured that the problem should resolve itself over the coming days.
Google has not specified any particular websites affected by this crawling issue. Site owners can monitor their crawl rate using the Google Search Console, accessible within the settings and the crawl rate report. Although the number of impacted sites is unknown, Google has confirmed that the issue is now resolved and crawl rates should return to normal in the near future.
