HPQ Silicon Expedites Battery Manufacturing in North America - Aiming for Third Quarter Debut

HPQ Silicon and Novacium Join Forces to Accelerate North American Battery Production

HPQ Silicon Inc and its research and development partner, Novacium, are set to begin concurrent production of high-performance battery cells in North America by the end of Q3 2025. This strategic shift, marked by a partnership agreement signed on July 2, 2025, will enable HPQ Silicon to produce its own batteries alongside Novacium.

The batteries to be produced by HPQ Silicon will be based on the GEN3 technology and will include 18650 cells with a capacity of approximately 4,000 mAh and 21700 cells with a capacity of approximately 6,000 mAh. These battery types are designed to capture market share in North America by the end of Q3 2025.

The concurrent production model accelerates HPQ Silicon's market entry compared to the prior phased approach. This strategy aims to meet growing North American battery demand faster, unlocking early commercial revenues for HPQ. Novacium remains the collaborative R&D partner, but both companies will independently manufacture to maximize output and market presence starting in Q3 2025.

The move is significant for HPQ's commercialization ambitions, leveraging its exclusive license to sell these battery cells and establishing itself as a supplier of high-performance batteries. While detailed market impact data for Q3 is not enumerated, the concurrent production launch signals an intent to rapidly scale and address increasing battery demand, potentially disrupting incumbent suppliers with advanced silicon-based anode battery cells.

Bernard Tourillon, President and CEO of HPQ Silicon Inc, stated that the agreement is a pivotal step in commercializing HPQ's technologies. Dr. Jed Kraiem, Ph.D., Head of Novacium, expressed the expanded collaboration with HPQ as a shared commitment to turning innovation into commercial reality. The collaboration broadens the global reach of Novacium's GEN3 technology.
