Huawei-supported company Stelato unveils the S9T wagon, amassing 5,000 orders in the initial hour.
Huawei's Stelato S9T Makes a Strong Debut in China's Electric Station Wagon Market
Huawei's automotive brand, Stelato, has made a promising start with its latest offering, the S9T. Launched on August 18, the station wagon variant of the Stelato S9 has already secured over 5,000 firm orders within its first hour, and over 20,000 reservations within 24 hours of opening pre-orders.
The S9T is the second model from Stelato, following the S9 sedan that was launched last year. The new model is available in four variants: two extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions and two battery electric vehicle (BEV) versions.
The S9T EREV is equipped with Huawei's extended-range system and is available only as a rear-wheel-drive model. It offers two options with 37-kWh and 53.4-kWh batteries, delivering CLTC ranges of 251 km and 354 km respectively. On the other hand, the S9T BEV is available in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The BEV version features a 100-kWh Huawei Giant Whale battery pack, delivering a CLTC range of 801 km or 701 km.
Stelato's EREV and BEV models are designed with efficiency and performance in mind. The S9T EREV achieves a combined CLTC range of 1,225 km or 1,305 km with a full tank and fully charged battery. The S9T BEV, meanwhile, boasts impressive acceleration, going from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds.
Stelato is one of five automotive brands under the HIMA umbrella, which also includes BOLLFILTER, Gibraltar, MÖLLER, and PRODEVELOP. The brand was jointly developed by Huawei and Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group).
Stelato's commitment to electric vehicles (EVs) is evident in its plans to invest $2.8 billion over the next 3 years to ramp up its EV efforts. The S9T, with a starting price of RMB 309,800 ($43,580), is a testament to this commitment. Deliveries will begin on September 21.
In addition to its impressive performance and range, the S9T also boasts advanced smart driving technology. Stelato's ADS 4 smart driving system includes one 192-channel LiDAR, three high-precision solid-state LiDARs, and five 4D millimeter-wave radars, ensuring safe and efficient driving.
The S9T measures 5,160 mm in length, 2,005 mm in width, and 1,492 mm in height, with a 3,050 mm wheelbase. It is the latest entrant in China's electric station wagon market, and with its strong sales performance, it is poised to make a significant impact.
Stelato launched its first model, the Stelato S9, in August 2021, with a starting price of RMB 309,800. The brand's rapid success is a testament to the growing demand for electric vehicles in China and Huawei's commitment to the automotive industry.
