Huawei's Cloud Tech Drives Automotive Acoustics Revolution

Huawei, the Chinese tech giant, has seen over twenty automakers worldwide invest in its cloud computing technology for automotive development and distribution. This move follows Huawei's supply of solutions for driver assistance, cockpit systems, acoustics, and control to various automotive brands.

Huawei's investment in research and development is substantial. In 2024, the company spent CNY 179.7 billion (approximately £20 billion / €23.4 billion) with over 113,000 R&D employees.

The company's 'master-tuning method' combines scientific measurement with artistic tuning and specialised hardware. AI plays a significant role, managing, analysing, and applying acoustic data for modern audio tuning. It enables real-time calculation of wave interference patterns and DSP adjustments, creating independent sound-zones.

Huawei's Shanghai Acoustics R&D Centre uses cloud computing for automotive acoustic applications. The facility has three testing environments generating vast volumes of measurement data. This data is processed to account for different seating positions, varying cabin loads, temperature fluctuations, and real-time adjustments.

Huawei supplies its cloud computing automotive solutions to over twenty automakers, including active road-noise cancellation systems that require continuous sensor data processing. The company's innovative approach to automotive acoustics, facilitated by its substantial R&D investment and advanced AI technology, is transforming the industry.
