Hyundai's Ioniq 5: UK's Next Big EV, Impressive Charging & Innovative Interior

Hyundai's latest electric vehicle, the Ioniq 5, has sparked significant interest in the UK and Europe. Unveiled as the Hyundai 45 Concept and now renamed, the Ioniq 5 boasts impressive charging capabilities and a futuristic interior. It's set to hit UK roads this summer, with the first model, Project 45, priced at £45k after the Plug-in Car Grant (PiCG).

The Ioniq 5's standout feature is its advanced charging system. It supports both 400v and 800v charging, enabling a 10-80% charge in just 18 minutes. Additionally, it offers a 'vehicle to load' function, allowing it to power external devices or another electric vehicle in an emergency.

The Ioniq 5's interior is as innovative as its charging tech. It features twin screens for instruments and infotainment, along with an augmented reality head-up display (HUD). The cabin is also designed with sustainability in mind, incorporating recycled materials.

Under the hood, the Ioniq 5 sits on Hyundai's new E-GMP electric platform, with a spacious 3000mm wheelbase. It offers battery pack options of 58kWh and 72.6kWh, delivering power outputs ranging from 168bhp to 297bhp. Performance-wise, it can accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds and offers an official range of nearly 300 miles for the front-wheel-drive version.

Hyundai has received over 235,000 enquiries for the Ioniq 5, demonstrating strong consumer interest. The Project 45 model sold out within 24 hours of its release. With its impressive charging capabilities, innovative interior, and robust performance, the Ioniq 5 is poised to make a significant impact in the UK's electric vehicle market this summer.
