Iberdrola's Greek Wind Expansion: Gatza Park Nears Completion
Iberdrola is expanding its renewable energy footprint in Greece. The Spanish multinational is commissioning the 22.5 MW Gatza Wind Park in Serres, with financial backing from the European Investment Bank (EIB). This marks the first project signed between the EIB and Rokas, Iberdrola's Greek subsidiary.
The EIB has provided €25.9 million in green financing for the Gatza wind farm. This includes a €10 million loan from the EIB's own resources and an additional €15.9 million from the EU's Recovery and Resilience Fund. The agreement underscores the EIB's commitment to driving Europe's energy transition and bolstering strategic infrastructure.
Upon completion, Iberdrola's total installed capacity in Greece will reach 443.5 MW. This significant investment cements Iberdrola's status as one of the leading wind energy players in the country.
