Indian Worker Boosts CRS Score by 60 Points with Dual Work Experience Strategy
Sanjay Reddy, a 28-year-old Indian worker in Canada, has discovered a strategy to boost his Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score significantly under the Express Entry system. By gaining work experience simultaneously in Canada and abroad, he could see his score increase by more than 60 points in a single year, enhancing his chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
Under Express Entry, candidates can now accumulate both Canadian and foreign work experience concurrently. This is possible through programs like Work and Travel, Au-pair stays, or flexible university programs that allow working abroad while living in Canada, or vice versa. Sanjay plans to take advantage of this by working for both a Canadian and an Indian employer simultaneously.
Each Express Entry program has specific work experience requirements. For instance, the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) have different National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER levels, hours, and duration needs. Applicants must provide detailed documentation to prove they meet these requirements, including showing they worked full-time hours for each job. Full-time work is defined as 30 hours per week, and candidates can accrue up to 30 hours per week for each job within a year, potentially yielding up to two years of work experience in a single year.
Sanjay's CRS score will jump from 470 to 533 after gaining this work experience, meeting the cut-off score for recent CEC draws and increasing his likelihood of receiving an ITA.
Sanjay's innovative approach to gaining work experience could significantly improve his chances of securing permanent residence in Canada. By leveraging the opportunity to accumulate both Canadian and foreign work experience simultaneously, he demonstrates the potential for Express Entry candidates to accelerate their journey towards permanent residency.
