Information on ESPN's fresh streaming service offering

ESPN is set to launch a new streaming service titled "ESPN" on August 21, 2025, priced at $29.99 per month or $299.99 per year. The service will offer a range of features, including real-time stats, betting odds, shopping deals, and interactive elements like betting and fantasy sports during sporting events.

One of the service's standout features is the "StreamCenter," which syncs the ESPN app and TV, allowing viewers to use their mobile device as a secondary controller for the program on their TV screen. This feature also enables real-time updates and personalized content, such as personalized videos with AI-generated commentary from SportsCenter anchors, thanks to the AI-fueled feature, "SportsCenter for You."

In addition to the full-featured service, a lower-priced version with a narrower set of content will be available for $11.99 per month or $119.99 per year. Current cable subscribers can gain full access to the new streaming service after being authorized by their cable provider, although full authorization remains unavailable through select cable providers, including Comcast Xfinity, YouTube TV, Dish Network, Sling TV, and Cox, due to ongoing negotiations.

The new ESPN streaming service will not be a part of the bundled Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN offering or the bundled ESPN and Fox offering. However, a separate bundle of ESPN and NFL+, which includes NFL RedZone, will be available on Sept. 3 for $39.99 per month.

Disney had expected a decline in subscribers over the three-month period, but the addition of new subscribers exceeded expectations, with Disney adding 1.8 million subscribers to its streaming service Disney+ during its most recent quarter, bringing total global subscribers to nearly 128 million. The ESPN streaming service is seen as a way to preserve Disney's business amid cord-cutting threatening its traditional TV business.

Speaking on an earnings call in May, Disney CEO Bob Iger touted the ESPN streaming service as a means of reaching a new generation of consumers, especially young viewers. The service will also include exclusive content, such as WWE live events.

In a move to expand its offerings, ESPN will also release a bundled ESPN and Fox offering on Oct. 2 for $39.99 per month. Meanwhile, the bundled Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN offering will be available for $29.99 over the first 12 months, and $35.99 per month with ads or $49.99 per month without ads after that period.

The new ESPN streaming service is expected to provide an immersive and personalized viewing experience for sports fans, with its innovative features like "StreamCenter" and "SportsCenter for You." With its launch just around the corner, sports enthusiasts have much to look forward to.
