India recently hosted a significant high-level security conclave and the annual Raisina Dialogue, a premier geopolitics and geo-economics conference, in the capital city of New Delhi. The events took place from March 17 to 19, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the Raisina Dialogue on Monday.

The security conclave, organised by India's National Security Council Secretariat, brought together top international intelligence chiefs and security officials for a closed-door conference. The focus was on strengthening intelligence cooperation against counterterrorism, financial crimes, and cyber threats.

Participating countries included India, the United States, China, Russia, and several other nations, with key figures such as Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and their counterparts from these nations engaging in dialogue. Notable meetings included Doval's discussion with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, addressing the incremental thaw in India-China relations after border clashes.

The Raisina Dialogue, now in its 10th edition, attracted approximately 125 countries, including ministers, former heads of state and government, top military commanders, industry leaders, technology experts, academics, journalists, and strategic affairs specialists. This year's event will be held in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and virtual participation, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Raisina Dialogue will cover a wide range of topics, including geopolitical developments, economic opportunities, and regional and global security issues. Sessions will focus on the Indo-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa, and the Arctic, among other regions. The conference will feature panel discussions, one-on-one interactions, and workshops, with a focus on fostering open and in-depth dialogue on critical global issues.

In addition to the security conclave and Raisina Dialogue, India also announced the clearing of semiconductor manufacturing units in Odisha, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh with an outlay of Rs 4600 Cr. The government has also imposed fresh land port restrictions on imports from Bangladesh.

Tulsi Gabbard, the US Director of National Intelligence, was among the participants in the Raisina Dialogue. Her visit to New Delhi marked the first high-level visit from the new administration led by President Donald Trump. Gabbard's trip is part of a wider multi-nation journey focusing on the Indo-Pacific region.

The events in New Delhi underscore India's central role in facilitating international intelligence cooperation among major powers and its commitment to regional and global security. The discussions held during the security conclave and the Raisina Dialogue will undoubtedly contribute to the stabilization of regional security through high-level dialogue, border de-escalation, enhanced intelligence collaboration, and preparation for upcoming summits like the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meetings.
