International 'OP Stream' Busts 'KidFlix' Darknet Platform, Rescues Children
An international operation, 'OP Stream', has led to the dismantling of 'KidFlix', a darknet platform streaming child sexual abuse videos. Over 1,300 suspects worldwide were identified, and more than 91,000 videos were seized.
The operation, led by German authorities, traced cryptocurrency payments despite suspects' use of mixing services and privacy coins. It resulted in numerous arrests, including a 36-year-old man in Chemnitz and a 30-year-old man in Middle Franconia, both of whom had children placed in care. In Lower Saxony, one suspect was arrested, and a child sex doll was seized.
International cooperation extended to the United States, where a suspected repeat offender was arrested. The operation, involving 38 countries, aimed to protect children living with suspects and identify abused children. The platform's operator, Gerald Faulkner, was also apprehended.
'KidFlix' had approximately 1,800,000 registered users, highlighting the global scale of the issue. The operation's success demonstrates the effectiveness of international cooperation in combating online child sexual abuse.
