Ferrari Explores Xiaomi's Electric Technology Ahead of First Electric Supercar

Ferrari, the iconic Italian luxury car manufacturer, has taken a significant step towards its first fully electric vehicle (EV) by acquiring the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra electric vehicle for internal benchmarking and development.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, renowned for its advanced electric architecture and impressive performance specifications, has caught the attention of not only the tech world but also the automotive industry. Previously, the SU7 Ultra was spotted at Hyundai's headquarters in South Korea for research purposes, and it seems its performance may have piqued Ferrari's interest as well.

Reports suggest that Ferrari has been conducting internal research on the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, with multiple witnesses observing the vehicle emerging from Ferrari's headquarters. A camouflaged Ferrari test mule was also spotted outside a factory on July 28, identified as a pure electric test platform featuring fake exhaust pipes.

While no formal collaboration between Ferrari and Xiaomi has been announced, discussions with on-site engineers and markings on the vehicle suggest that the test vehicle is highly likely to be Ferrari's upcoming electric vehicle. In fact, internal sources from a factory tour indicate that Ferrari intends to unveil its first all-electric model by the end of this year.

The blogger "Zurich Beileye" claimed that Ferrari representatives visited Xiaomi headquarters last year, potentially discussing joint development of next-generation high-performance electric motors. However, no explicit public confirmation yet states a formal partnership or collaboration specifically to co-develop high-performance electric motors.

The timing of Ferrari's acquisition of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is particularly noteworthy given the upcoming unveiling of Ferrari's first electric vehicle. A Weibo user, "Piniluoshan" (劈你落山), and the blogger "Sago soup in Bologna" also reported that Ferrari is studying the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra for its upcoming electric platform.

In essence, Ferrari is actively benchmarking and studying Xiaomi's technology and has engaged in technical exchanges. However, the extent of collaboration for developing Ferrari's upcoming electric vehicles remains unconfirmed beyond technology evaluation and benchmarking activities.

As Ferrari prepares to join the electric vehicle revolution, the acquisition of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra indicates a clear interest in Xiaomi's technical solutions. The future of Ferrari's electric supercars is undoubtedly an exciting prospect for both companies and automotive enthusiasts alike.

  1. The acquisition of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra by Ferrari underscores its interest in technology from the finance and technology industries, particularly in electric vehicles.
  2. Ferrari's move to evaluate Xiaomi's electric architecture could potentially impact the automotive industry, signaling a shift towards electric vehicles in the luxury lifestyle segment.
  3. The careful study of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra by Ferrari has widespread implications for the transportation sector, opening doors for potential collaborations between the automotive and technology industries.
  4. As Ferrari delves deeper into electric vehicles, the exploration of Xiaomi's electric technology marks a significant step in the automotive industry's evolution, blurring the lines between traditional combustion engines and electric-vehicle technology.
