Google is also supporting the Masakhane African Languages AI Hub with $3 million. Two $1 million Google.org grants have been awarded to the African Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AfriDSAI) at the University of Pretoria and the Wits Machine Intelligence and Neural Discovery (MIND) Institute in South Africa. Moreover, Google is launching a catalytic fund initiative to help over 100 AI-driven startups scale their solutions across Africa. This initiative combines philanthropic funding, venture capital, and technical support to help founders bring locally relevant AI applications to life [3].

These efforts build on Google's ongoing work in Africa, such as AI-powered maternal health dashboards in Ghana and Nigeria and wildfire alerts in East Africa. In Ghana, Google is offering 100,000 fully funded, self-paced Google Career Certificate scholarships for students in higher education institutions. These scholarships cover essential topics like AI Essentials, Prompting Essentials, IT Support, Data Analytics, and Cybersecurity [7].
