iOS 26 Release Schedule, Compatible Devices, Included Features, and All Known Details
The tech world is abuzz with excitement as Apple prepares to release its latest iOS update, iOS 26. This update is set to bring a host of new features and improvements to Apple devices, particularly the iPhone.
Starting with the iPhone 11 series and newer models, including the iPhone SE (2nd generation and later), the iOS 26 update will be available. Unfortunately, it will not support the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR due to hardware limitations. The entire iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 series, as well as the upcoming iPhone 16 series, are all set to benefit from this update.
Among the most anticipated features of iOS 26 is the introduction of Live Translation, a service that will enable users to generate text, solve problems, and access visual intelligence features without the need for additional apps. This update will also see the debut of a dedicated Game Center for gamers, providing a central hub for all gaming activities on the iPhone.
The iOS 26 update will also enhance the user experience in popular apps like Safari and Camera, with new features and an improved interface. Apple Maps, Wallet, and the Camera app are said to receive significant upgrades, making navigation, financial transactions, and photography more seamless and enjoyable.
For iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models, some advanced Apple Intelligence features will be exclusive due to hardware requirements. However, these advanced capabilities, such as richer AI image generation, will be available for a fee.
The public release of iOS 26 is expected this fall, coinciding with the launch of the iPhone 17 series. The update is currently available in developer and public beta versions for supported devices. The iPhone 17 series, including the iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, will receive the update upon their release.
Other notable features of iOS 26 include improvements to the Messages app and the introduction of Call and Message Screening. This update will also integrate GPT-5 into Siri and Writing Tools on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, and iPhone 17 series, as well as iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe 26.
The iOS 26 update for the iPhone 17 series is expected to roll out between September 15 and September 19, coinciding with the launch of the new iPhone models. As always, Apple enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the official release of iOS 26, which promises to bring a host of exciting new features and improvements to their devices.
