iPad Pro undergoes significant updates: Explore the novel features
In a bid to revitalize the slumping tablet market and reverse declining sales, Apple is planning a comprehensive upgrade for its iPad Pro. The tablet, once hailed as a potential successor to the Mac, has endured a significant sales slump, dropping to its lowest level since the onset of the pandemic in early 2020. Other manufacturers, such as Samsung and Lenovo, are experiencing similar predicaments.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the new iPad Pro models are set to debut, aiming to breathe fresh life into the product and stimulate sales. However, these new tablets will not feature in Apple's major launch event in September, which will spotlight the iPhone and Apple Watch. Instead, the eagerly anticipated new iPad Pro models are expected to make their debut in the spring or early summer.
The forthcoming iPad Pro will undergo a significant overhaul, with the codenames J717, J718, J720, and J721 indicating substantial upgrades. The new models are expected to incorporate the next-generation M3 chip and OLED displays, resulting in crisper, brighter, and more color-accurate visuals. Additionally, a revamped Magic Keyboard aims to lend the iPad Pro a more laptop-like appearance, addressing criticisms leveled at the current model.
This overhaul marks the first major update to the iPad Pro since 2018; the current model has seen incremental improvements in newer years, with upgrades to its chip, cameras, display technology, and sensors. The new models will be offered in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, retaining the existing lineup's format, although the larger model currently measures 12.9 inches.
Despite the challenging circumstances for the iPad, Apple remains a dominating force in the tablet market, holding 37% of shipments in the last quarter. Although sales are on a downward trend, most competitors are experiencing even steeper declines, with only Xiaomi witnessing growth in the last quarter.
The Enrichment Data suggests that the anticipated iPad Pro models will offer refined performance improvements with the M5 chip, featuring a 12-core GPU for enhanced graphics performance. The new tablets will also boast professional workflow capabilities, including improved video editing, art and design tools, 3D modeling, and advanced display technology. Furthermore, AI-assisted tools, AI-enhanced software features, and Thunderbolt 5 support are expected to feature in the new models, adding to their appeal for professionals and power users.
