BMW Unveils Refreshed 3 Series Coupe and Convertible

BMW has announced an update to its iconic 3 Series Coupe and Convertible models, featuring a sleek new design and improved performance. The new vehicles incorporate the latest BMW design language, first showcased in the Vision Neue Klasse concept unveiled in September 2023.

The heart of the update is the N55 inline-6 engine, which now builds peak torque at a lower RPM of 1,200 compared to the N54. This engine, first appearing on the new 5-Series GT, offers a slight increase in gas mileage and produces an estimated 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. The engine weighs roughly 427lbs, according to BMW. Peak torque is available up to 5,000 rpm, with peak horsepower produced at 5,800 rpm.

The N55 engine is equipped with a single turbo with twin-scroll technology, direct-fuel injection, Valvetronic variable intake technology, and is made of aluminum. The 328i's N52 inline-6 engine remains unchanged, offering 230 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque.

The exterior of the updated models boasts a number of changes. Splitters at each end of the fascia are larger in the updated design, and the front lower fascia features subtle winglets on the air-dam and a larger air flow area. The rear-lights have been modified with an 'L' shaped design theme. The side mirrors have been fully redesigned for improved visibility, and the top corners of the kidney grille are now rounded out. The kidney grille size has slightly increased, and the corona rings or halos are now bright LED units.

The updated models also feature BMW's all-wheel drive system, which has been significantly improved. The steptronic transmission now comes with real + and - paddles for a more engaging driving experience. The new 3-Series convertible features Sun-Reflective Leather, making it the first automaker to offer such technology.

Performance-wise, the estimated 0-60 time for the manual equipped 335i AWD coupe is 5.2 seconds. The new models retain the agility and handling that the 3 Series is known for, making them a desirable choice for both daily commuters and enthusiasts alike.

The updated 3-Series coupe and convertible represent a significant step forward for BMW, combining style, performance, and innovation in a package that is sure to excite both current and potential customers.
