Latest Updates in Autonomous Vehicles: Collaboration Between Ford, Hesai, Westwell, Plus, and Ambarella

In the rapidly evolving world of autonomous driving, several significant partnerships and technological advancements are shaping the future of the automotive industry.

One such collaboration is between Hesai Technology and Westwell, a global provider in autonomous driving solutions. This alliance will see Westwell's autonomous driving solutions, including Q-Trucks and Q-Tractors, equipped with Hesai's advanced lidar products. Westwell's R&D team equips multiple Hesai's XT32 and AT128 lidars for each of their vehicles, ensuring precise and reliable performance.

Hesai's lidars are already integrated with Westwell's autonomous driving solutions and are widely used in various applications, such as autonomous delivery robots, forklifts, and lawnmowers. The Hesai XT32 mid-range lidar, for instance, provides 5 mm range precision for Westwell's autonomous driving Q-Trucks and E-Trucks.

Meanwhile, LG Innotek and Aeva have recently committed to a partnership to develop LiDAR technology for autonomous driving, with plans to commence in July 2025. Hesai Technology and RoboSense are leading LiDAR suppliers, recognised by multiple automakers, including collaboration with Toyota's joint venture brand. Applications for this technology are already present in China and Europe, with Hesai showcasing advanced LiDAR at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Germany.

The PlusVision stack, running on a mid-range CV3-AD655 SoC, is another innovative offering from Hesai. This high-performance AD perception software stack, now available on Ambarella's CV3-AD AI domain controller family of systems-on-chips, can process 11 cameras simultaneously at 30 frames per second. The PlusVision stack provides more than 200 meters of front-camera detection range, suitable for high-speed driving conditions.

The collaboration between Zeekr and Mobileye is another notable development. This joint effort will locally tailor other key Mobileye technologies such as the Driving Experience Platform (DXP) and integrate Mobileye technologies into the next-generation Zeekr models. Zeekr plans to expand the installation of the SuperVision platform on additional vehicles and increase the highway and urban coverage of its existing Navigation Zeekr Pilot (NZP) systems.

Zeekr has already delivered over 240,000 vehicles powered by the Mobileye SuperVision platform. The expanded collaboration will enable Zeekr engineers to better utilize Mobileye's technologies and development tools. The companies will leverage Zeekr's state-of-the-art vehicle technologies and Mobileye's autonomous driving technology to launch next-generation products for ADAS, automated and driverless vehicles.

The CV3-AD SoC family offers industry-leading low power consumption and advanced image processing, making it an ideal choice for autonomous driving applications. The Plus and Ambarella teams collaborated to optimize the PlusVision model for the CVflow® AI engine inside the CV3-AD SoCs.

These collaborations and technological advancements are set to accelerate the launch of next-generation vehicles with L2+/L3 autonomy, propelling the autonomous driving industry forward. Westwell's autonomous driving solutions, Hesai's lidar technology, Ambarella's CV3-AD SoC family, and Mobileye's autonomous driving technology are all contributing to this exciting future.
