Latest Updates in Electric Vehicle Battery and Charging Sector: Workhorse Group, Worksport, Nikola, REV Group, and Electric Era Remain Pivotal Players

In the world of electric vehicles (EVs), there's been a flurry of exciting developments recently. Let's take a look at some of the key announcements that have caught our attention.

Mesa's All-Electric Fire Truck

Mesa, Arizona, has taken a significant step towards carbon neutrality with the introduction of its first fully electric fire North American style engine. Funded by 2018 bonds approved by voters and the City's General Fund, this innovative fire truck can pump four hose lines at 750 gallons per minute for four hours on a single charge, reducing toxin exposure for firefighters and supporting Mesa's Climate Action Plan.

Nikola Corporation's FCEV

Nikola Corporation has been busy too. In 2023, they produced 42 Class 8 Nikola hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles and wholesaled 35 of them. The FCEV, their flagship product, boasts a range of up to 500 miles and an estimated fueling time as low as 20 minutes, making it among the longest ranges of all commercially available zero tailpipe emission Class 8 trucks.

Workhorse Group Inc.'s W56

Workhorse Group Inc. began production of their W56 electric vehicle in September 2023. Eligible for the California Air Resources Board's Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project, the W56 is Workhorse's first fully designed, purpose-built Class 5/6 model chassis platform. Through the HVIP incentive program, vehicle purchasers and participating dealers are eligible to apply for a base voucher of $85,000 per W56 purchased, helping to reduce cost barriers for electric vehicle ownership in California.

onsemi's EliteSiC Power Integrated Modules

onsemi has announced the availability of nine new EliteSiC Power Integrated Modules for DC ultra-fast electric vehicle chargers and energy storage systems. These modules are set to revolutionize the charging infrastructure for EVs.

Worksport Ltd.'s COR Battery System

Worksport Ltd. has formed a strategic partnership with NeuronicWorks Inc. to manufacture and assemble the COR battery system. The COR battery system, intended to be manufactured and assembled in Canada, will contribute to the growing EV market.

Electric Era Technologies' Referral Program

Electric Era Technologies has announced a referral program to allow EV drivers and site hosts to get paid for referring eligible site hosts for its PowerNode EV fast charging stations. The PowerNode fast charging stations are battery-backed and leverage a proprietary, vertically-integrated software system for intelligent energy management and integrated reliability features.

These developments underscore the growing momentum towards electric vehicles and sustainable energy solutions. As more companies invest in EV technology and infrastructure, we can expect to see even more exciting announcements in the near future.
