The Vietnamese Innovation Network in Korea (VINK) has been established under the patronage of the National Innovation Centre managed by Vietnam's Ministry of Finance. This network serves as a vital bridge connecting Vietnam's domestic innovation ecosystem with global expertise, particularly leveraging Vietnamese intellectuals and experts based in South Korea.

VINK's role and purpose include facilitating cooperation and collaboration between Vietnamese experts abroad and domestic organizations, universities, research institutes, and enterprises. The network contributes to major national initiatives such as drafting key policies and strategic plans for developing sectors like semiconductors, AI, fintech, clean energy, smart cities, and the cultural and creative industries.

The network also supports capacity building by helping domestic universities and businesses in training, research, and market expansion. It encourages innovation and entrepreneurship, sharing South Korea’s successful experiences in fostering startups and strategic technologies, and proposing financial and infrastructure measures to shift Vietnam toward a science- and innovation-led economic growth model targeting double-digit GDP growth.

Party General Secretary Tô Lâm and Minister of Finance Nguyễn Văn Thắng have emphasized the network’s strategic importance, urging it to remain proactive in leading innovation efforts, transferring global advancements to Vietnam, and fostering solidarity among Vietnamese experts abroad for the country’s strong and prosperous future.

During a recent meeting with members of the VINK in Korea and Vietnamese experts in the Republic of Korea, Tô Lâm encouraged the network to take the lead in innovation initiatives, promote knowledge and experience transfer, and bring global advances and best practices to Vietnam. He also highlighted the importance of a skilled workforce and the joint efforts of intellectuals, experts, and entrepreneurs both at home and abroad in achieving success.

Minister of Finance Nguyẽn Văn Thắng spoke at the meeting, praising members of the VINK and Vietnamese experts in the Republic of Korea for their contributions to Vietnam's innovation and digital transformation efforts. He requested that the Ministry of Finance continue coordinating to connect and transfer knowledge, as well as concretize programs, ideas, and proposals from experts in the Republic of Korea and other countries into specific, high value-added solutions and products.

With over 2,000 members who are intellectuals, scientists, chief engineers, and chief architects in key industries, the VINK has a presence in 22 countries and territories.
