Legendary Trainer Jim Bolger's Future Looks Bright Despite Scaling Back Operations

Legendary trainer Jim Bolger has high hopes for his recent Curragh maiden winner Mumhan, who will remain in his care unless a substantial offer is made. Bolger, who has trained around 55 Group 1 winners, is also reducing his stable numbers and consolidating his bloodstock interests.

Bolger's 84-acre Redmondstown Stud, a renowned producer of classic and Group 1 winners, is currently on the market with a guide price of €975,000. Despite this, Bolger remains optimistic about the future of his operations and the stallion market. His granddaughter Clare Manning is playing an increasing role, selling more of Bolger's homebreds at yearling sales.

Bolger recently consigned a sizeable draft to the upcoming Goffs Autumn Yearling Sale, including many lots by the popular sire Dawn Approach. Meanwhile, a Teofilo filly from Bolger's stable jointly topped the Goffs Orby Sale, selling for €135,000 on behalf of Khalifa Dasmal, owner of notable talents like Dream Ahead and Shaamit.

Jim Bolger, despite scaling back his operations, continues to produce top-quality horses. His recent successes and positive outlook suggest that his influence on the racing world remains strong. The future of his bloodstock interests, while consolidating, looks promising.
