Starting from at least April 2022, Splatoon icons have been part of the Nintendo Switch Online Missions and Rewards. Notable subsequent availability includes September and December 2022, as well as up to June 24, 2023.
Nintendo updates the available icon elements regularly, often monthly or in alignment with new missions and rewards cycles tied to Nintendo Switch Online membership activities. This allows players to redeem new or updated icons based on their gaming activity and accumulated Platinum Points.
Beginning July 2025, recurring icons, including Splatoon-related ones, require players to play the related game at least 3 times within 30 days to see and redeem the icons, reflecting a more engagement-based redemption process.
To redeem these icon elements, a Nintendo Account is required, and internet access is necessary for online features. Players can check the Nintendo Switch Online app on their Nintendo SwitchTM system to ensure they don't miss any new icon elements. The website provides details about the online features and terms.
